CADDO PARISH PARKS AND RECREATION AND SHREVEPORT GREEN LAUNCH CLEAN PARKS CAMPAIGN
Caddo Parish, LA - Caddo Parish Parks and Recreation, in partnership with Shreveport Green, has launched the “Caddo Parish Clean Parks Campaign” geared toward keeping Caddo Parish parks litter and waste free.
The initiative encourages civic, religious and community organizations to volunteer to help beautify the Parish’s parks, greenspaces and nature sites.
“Our Parks and Recreation Department must lead by example when it comes to keeping Caddo Parish clean and litter free. When we are consistent with our cleanup efforts, we believe the citizens of Caddo Parish will follow,” said Caddo Parish parks and recreation director Patrick Wesley.
“Shreveport Green is proud to be a part of this exciting new program,” said Shreveport Green Executive Director Donna Curtis. “We know that when citizens step up to volunteer, the issue becomes personal. And how much more personal is a beautiful, enhanced park to enjoy,” said Curtis.
The campaign’s first event took place February 6 at Milton James “Hookie” Cameron Memorial Park. Over two dozen citizens participated in the removal of discarded trash, tires, and electronics from the park.
Volunteer opportunities to participate in the campaign are available for organizations and groups. For additional information about Caddo Parish Clean Parks Campaign, or to register your group, go to www.caddo.org or www.shreveportgreen.org.
