“BUGS, BATS AND BONES” TO GO VIRTUAL FOR 2020
CADDO PARISH, LA – Out of an abundance of caution and for the safety of citizens and staff, Bugs, Bats and Bones will look a little different in its tenth year.
Caddo Parish Parks and Recreation will host the 10th annual Bugs, Bats, & Bones event virtually using a series of videos premiering each Friday in October at 3pm on the department’s Facebook page.
“This year’s event will look different due to public health guidelines pertaining to COVID-19, but park patrons will still get to meet Halloween’s creepiest creatures and discover they’re not so scary after all,” said Caddo Parks Education Coordinator Stacy Gray.
The weekly videos will cover a variety of Halloween themed nature topics, including live animal encounters with snakes, spiders, vultures, and more.
“As we continue to navigate COVID-19 in our community, creating virtual opportunities for our citizens to engage and continue to learn about nature continues to be a top priority,” said Parks and Recreation Director Patrick Wesley. “Bugs, Bats and Bones is one of the Parish’s premier and engaging events that we host at Walter B. Jacobs, attracting hundreds of participants each year. We are delighted to be able to offer programming that allows our citizens to safely enjoy this annual event,” said Wesley.
Bugs, Bats and Bones has been recognized at the national level. The event was officially selected by the National Association of Interpretation as the Outstanding Event of 2019 for Region 6, which encompasses TX, OK, KS, MO, AR and LA.
