Caddo Parish Charter Study Committee Requests Community Input

Caddo Parish, LA - The Caddo Parish Charter Study Committee, a volunteer committee appointed by the Caddo Parish Commission for periodic review of the Caddo Parish Charter, is seeking input from the public regarding possible changes to the Charter.

Members of the Committee include Tom Arceneaux, Chairman, Rolland Coleman, RJ Johnson, Ken Krefft, Calvin Ben Lester, and Randall Liles. Commission President Mario Chavez, Parish Administrator Dr. Woodrow Wilson, and Parish Attorney Donna Frazier are also members of the Committee.

Members of the public may obtain a copy of the current Parish Charter at www.caddo.org/charter or by requesting a copy from Clerk of the Parish Commission, Jeff Everson, at jeverson@caddo.org, or (318) 226-6596, or by mail at 505 Travis, Suite 110, Shreveport, LA 71101. The Committee also has placed copies of the Charter at branches of the Shreve Memorial Library.

Members of the public may submit suggested comments and language in several ways. First, they may post suggestions at www.caddo.org/charter. Second, they may email suggestions to Jeff Everson, Clerk of the Commission, at jeverson@caddo.org. Third, they may mail suggestions to Mr. Everson at 505 Travis, Suite 110, Shreveport, LA 71101.

The Committee’s next meeting will be by Zoom on Thursday, July 23, 2020, at 10:00 a.m. Details for participation at the meeting, and the meeting’s agenda, will be posted prior to the meeting. Persons desiring notice of the meetings should request such notice from Mr. Everson, or by subscribing for updates on Caddo.org. The Committee anticipates that it will schedule future meetings during their July 23 meeting.

Chairman Arceneaux requests that comments be submitted on or before 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 21, so that the Committee can schedule particular subjects for its meetings. However, the Committee will consider comments and suggestions submitted after that date.

The Committee plans to submit any recommendations to the Parish Commission before October, in time for the Commission to consider placing any proposed amendments on the ballot in December, 2020.
